I found this great article by Edudemic about teaching grammar in the classroom. It not only gave some great non technology ideas for teaching grammar, but some excellent technology tools as well. It was such a great read that I wanted to tweet about and share with my fellow colleagues. Although I have a twitter account I don't feel that I will find myself an avid tweeter. It is not the first thing that I think about posting on when I have something to share. I do feel however that I will utilize twitter more now then I have in the past. |
A PLN short for personal learning network, consists of a group of people that a learner will interact with to attain knowledge for personal growth. A PLN enables a learner to branch out and derive knowledge in ways were not at our fingertips in previous years. It opens up new avenues and paths that one can journey on, in their learning adventures. The people that I have included in my PLN are colleagues from different walks of life. I have also included former teachers as well as current classmates. I have also included a few different elementary teachers that I have found searching for great ideas to implement in my class. I feel that by using a PLN it will enable me to grow professionally and give me better tools to engage my students in their education journey.
The #EdChat that I participated in was on Tuesday, November 24th at 4:00 pm. The topic covered was: What are specific ways in which educators can support the idea that students should have a voice in their education? I found the topic interesting. Although the chat was hard to follow because of how fast paced it was, I found the topic interesting. During the chat I mostly lurked, however I did make a couple of comments and also had a couple responses to my comments. My experience was overall good and I could see myself joining in more chats. I feel that this could be a great place to get ideas from educators all over the country.
I have been using Pinterest even before having my own classroom. I started using it for baking & cooking recipe's. Once I started in the classroom I would go on pinterest to search for great ideas to use in my classroom. I have recently added the Ed Tech Tools board because I wanted to have a common place for all of my teaching ideas. Utilizing pinterest has given me so wonderful strategies for my lessons and I will continue to use it not only for fun and creative lesson ideas, but also to help me better include technology in my classroom.
